Now powered by Axiom 2.1, upgraded from 13M to 73M parameters.
Drag the handle to compare the original frame vs the Starless result.
Star removal with structure preservation — designed for astrophotography workflows.
Starless combines precision file handling, linear-data support, and cleaner preprocessing — now enhanced by the larger 73M-parameter Axiom 2.1 model.
Process high-dynamic-range astrophotography files while preserving tonal depth and fine signal detail.
Work directly on linear data with a controlled temporary stretch and mathematical inversion pipeline.
Reduce uneven sky glow and illumination gradients while protecting faint nebulae and low-contrast structures.
* Starless performs a temporary prestretch to remove stars, then applies a mathematical inversion to restore the image to its original linear state.
** Available in the standalone version only.
Starless is designed to isolate stars from the underlying astrophysical signal, giving you a clean foundation to work on nebulae, dust and background structures without interference.
With Axiom 2.1 (73M parameters), separation is more stable and consistent: star halos are reduced, transitions are cleaner, and faint structures remain intact. This makes subsequent processing — stretching, color grading, contrast and local edits — significantly more predictable.
More stable structures, cleaner separation — ready for precise processing.
Starless generates a clean, exportable star mask that lets you process stars and deep-sky signal separately. Edit nebulae, dust, contrast and color with fewer compromises, then bring the stars back when the image is ready.
Powered by Axiom 2.1 , the star layer is more consistent around small stars, bright stars and halos — giving you better control during recomposition.
Export the star mask, process freely, then reintroduce the stars directly in Starless (in standalone,(On other compatible software the reintroduction workflow is different) .
Zenith and Nadir power lightweight community workflows. Axiom is Starless’ high-capacity architecture. With Axiom 2.1, Starless moves from 13M to 73M parameters, giving the model far more capacity for difficult astrophotography data.
A larger model gives Starless more representational capacity: it can handle complex star fields, halos, faint structures, gradients, imperfect optics, and ambiguous edge cases with more consistency. In practice, this means cleaner separation and more predictable results across difficult frames.
Zenith is optimized specifically for Siril workflows. Nadir is an Axiom-based compact model for efficiency in SETI Astro Suite.
Precision star removal with structure preservation — cleaner separation, more stable details, and a better foundation for stretching, grading, recomposition, and finishing.
